So you are going to take an international flight and have reached airport 3 hours earlier, or you are going to take flight back to home and really need to take some rest or a shower or maybe just looking for internet access, some refreshments or drinks but don’t want to spend on the ultra-high expensive outlets at airport.
Though everything comes at a price yet, there are many things which you can get for free, and here I am going to show you how to get complimentary access at over 750 airports across the world.
Usually, such privileges are available to different club members such as LoungeKey or Priority Pass, but this comes at a price however if you get a right credit card for yourself it can get you free access. There are many credit cards which offer this benefit free of cost across the world. In the UAE you can get Citi Life Platinum Master Card which comes with a no joining fee although its website mentions 300 AED annual fee, but you can negotiate it with the bank. You can also get Emirates Islamic Cash Plus credit card, it’ll not only give you cash back on your purchases, but it also gives you complimentary Lounge Key membership which enables you access to 750+ airports across the globe.
I have personally accessed VIP lounges at various airports in many parts of the world including CIP lounge at Lahore and Karachi International, Marhaba lounge in Dubai Airports, Diamond Lounge at Abu Dhabi Airport, First Class Lounge at Sharjah Airport, Plaza Premium Lounge at Singapore Airport to name a few.
At some airports there may be more than one lounges covered under your card, you can check the lounge facilities according to your need, or you can choose one which is near to your departure gate.
At times some airport lounges are not included in the Lounge key network, but here I am going to tell you a way around to get access to more airport lounges. There are some credit cards which offer free Priority Pass network access for example in the UAE you can get American Express Credit Card.
If you are based in Pakistan you can get UBL Signature Premium Debit MasterCard; however, it’s only available to their priority banking customers. Other banks like HBL and Standard Chartered also provide this service but to limited airport lounges.
Care for your spouse?
You can get a free supplementary credit card for your spouse who can also enjoy same benefits absolutely free.
Travelling with a Friend?
Some credit cards offer free access to cardholder plus one or two guests along with the cardholder. However to get such credit card you need to have a good minimum salary or a very sound business.
If you are travelling from Terminal 1, 2 or 3 in Dubai, I recommend Marhaba lounge as their lounges are good with fresh food and drinks.
If your credit card comes with the Lounge Key network access, you can download the free mobile app with the same name “LoungeKey” and find out which airports are covered under your card and what facilities are available in the lounge.
Not Comfortable with Credit Cards?
Some people just can’t handle credit cards, and I understand that. Well, there’s good news for them as well. Some ATM/Debit Cards also get you complimentary lounge access, for example, Emirates Islamic Debit Card gets you access to Marhaba lounges in Dubai. Problem with debit cards is they provide access to very limited airports, or you need to be priority banking customer to get one.
I hope you found this post useful, leave me your comments and suggestions to help you travel more, travel better.
